Ovajoi returns with new ethereal track ‘IF I DROWNED?’

Cardiff-based electronic pop artist ovajoi returns with a new ethereal single, IF I DROWNED? out 15th May via Klust Music.
Written by Ellie Strong (ovajoi) in her bedroom over a year ago and produced alongside long-time collaborator Matt Attard, the track explores the emotional aftermath of a difficult relationship. IF I DROWNED? blends electronic pop elements with dark ambient textures, passing through themes of grief and heartache via freedom and space.

The release follows support from multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ali Lacey aka Novo Amor through Beacons’ Birthplace Fund last year, marking ovajoi as one of the most distinctive new artists emerging from Wales at the moment. Ellie adds:
“‘IF I DROWNED?’s calm-core electronic atmosphere was my way of getting over some complicated feelings. Oklou’s ‘choke enough’ album was really wonderful inspiration when creating this song — with its minimal percussion and dream-state tone, I believe it captured something that I was really feeling at the time of making it.”
