SHINOBii joins Klust Music
New single ‘DIDUFALLFROMHEAVEN?’ out now
Today (11th September), Klust Music, launched in collaboration with Sain69, welcomes its third signing, SHINOBii, who shares his debut single for the label, ‘DIDUFALLFROMHEAVEN?’, out now.
Hailing from Bethel, Caernarfon, in north Wales, SHINOBii aka Rhys Grail, has self-released three singles to date, picking up support from BBC Radio 1 Introducing with Jess Iszatt and BBC Introducing Wales along the way, and was backed by Novo Amor's Birthplace Fund in 2025 — the same scheme that supported fellow Klust Music artist ovajoi. Live, he's played a handful of solo shows, including a support slot on the Klust Magazine tour in London earlier this year.
For those looking for a way in, SHINOBii sits somewhere between Japanese Breakfast, DIIV, and The Greeting Committee. The track is built around a soaring pop chorus and driving electronic production; 'DIDUFALLFROMHEAVEN?' pairs euphoria with melancholy, with its heartfelt lyricism giving the brightest moments real emotional weight.
“This single feels like a gateway into a more coherent artist sound,” says Grail. “The first few singles were the birth of SHINOBii — these next few songs feel like the first steps into something that's growing, paving the way for even more sound exploration.”
Lyrically, ‘DIDUFALLFROMHEAVEN?’ turns on the unspoken dialogue between two people. It is a yearning for escape that runs through a world Grail has built, functioning as both an expression of himself and a refuge for anyone who has ever felt like an outcast.
“I want the project, for me, to be a space where I can just create with no expectation, a way to express myself without monetising everything,” he adds. “I just want to play and create, build a world, and not feel so anxious. I want to have fun making loud noises with my pedalboard. I want to find the right audience who might connect with these songs I make; find the people who feel the way I feel.”
Klust Music will celebrate its launch with a live event at Next Door Records Two in London on Thursday 17th September, bringing together artists from across the label’s community and a number of label friends including Art School Girlfriend, Tomos, Tokomololo & Ani Glass.
